Ink blending tools - what to pick for someone new to distress inks?

Hello! :)

I just started using the distress inks, which are awesome for blending, stencils etc. and thought that writing about the various blending tools available out there would be helpful for others like me for whom these inks are new..

Ranger has its own version of ink blending tools. Alongwith that there are other blending tools available that are made by other brands, like Tsukineko sponge daubers. Lastly, it is the humble makeup sponge wedge.

I started with the ranger blending tool for blending inks but it kinda proved difficult because I would end up applying way too much pressure.
Ditto with the sponge daubers..  also because of the dauber's small size, they covered a lot less area.

The makeup wedges worked best for me, they are all sponge and super light so they help in even distribution of ink without me ending up exerting too much force.. they not only helped blend color easily but were also awesome with stencils! Also at (INR) Rs. 350/- for a pack of 24 wedges, the most pocket friendly too!

I know many crafters are fans of the ranger and other branded ink blending tools, but seriously guys, give the makeup wedge a try... :) you will not be disappointed!

Have a happy day!

Distress Inks! (Mini kit 1)

Like I said, I had purchased distress inks for the first time this diwali, I decided to put them to use.

It was tricky at first and after a failed attempt, I managed to put together a decent card the second time around. :)

Also used some die-cuts by pink paislee, tiny pearls, brads, a paper clip and a big die-cut word... "love" (yeah, its pretty obvious and kinda out there, but I tried to make it subtle!)

Have a happy day and thanks for stopping by!

A simple stamped card

Yes, I know this post and card is too simple et al after a hiatus.

But the next post is bound to surprise you!

For now, lets get to the card at hand.

This is my version of a gorgeous inspiration from the book called 'The best of Stamp It!'

Took blue cardstock, stamped a generic design (locally bought stamp of cherry blossoms) on it using light blue ink, then used a Tim Holtz stamp (from the set Regal flourish) and stamped over it in violet ink.

Added two different colors of ribbon, a sentiment and voila! :)

Thank you for stopping by! Have a happy day!

A super quick, fun card! :)

Here is a card I put together super quick, using red and green cardstock, some green ribbon, a 6" x 6" pattern paper sheet, some paper punch outs and colorful rhinestones.

The design in the centre is placed on a thin foam sheet  to add height and interest.

I had so much fun making this, I even duplicated the pattern onto the envelope to coordinate it with the card.

Hope you liked it! :) Have a happy day!

You can never have too many cupcakes :)

So many cupcakes.. and all it took was a mixed size circle stencil and scallop edge scissors!

Also sprinkled some super fine glitter on all of them and added some red rhinestones to the smaller ones... afterall who doesn't like a cherry on top!

Stuck a few of them onto the envelope to go with the card.

And the blue bling borders... hmm :) what can I say... I am a bling fan!!

Hope you liked it. Thanks for stopping by and happy day / evening to you!

A little sliver of happiness...

What a month! The Indian festival of lights, a.k.a Diwali has arrived and with it have the crazy discounts at the various craft stores...

Here is my little purchase (it was tough to keep in check and not go overboard... )

Some items are a first... wink of stella clear and distress inks! Can you believe it... I have been into stamping for well over a year and this is my first ever set of distress inks?! :)

Going to watch tutorials and videos and experiment a bit till I don't get the hang of it.

On that happy note, I wish you and your families a very Happy Diwali!
