A quilled thanks

Hello! :)

It is again after a long break that I have got back to paper quilling... I think my last quilled piece was way back in 2012...

Thanks to the Indian Quilling Challenge Group, I was motivated to try quilling once again for a thank you card.

This is for a very special person, who has always been there for me, worrying and caring for me no matter what. :)

I didnt use a lot of embellishments, just some charms, metal and resin, with some baker's twine and U clips because I wanted the heart to be the main focus.

Had a blast making this card. Thank you for stopping by. Have an awesome day!

A photo card

Hello!! :)

Here is another card where I used the colors in the photograph and built the background around it.

It is also the first time that I used Gelatos by Faber Castell. :) I used them on a normal cartridge paper and I must say, loved the way they blended with some water and a few quick swipes of the brush!

Used two different stencils with distress inks, added some silver confetti stars (they might look golden in the photo but they are silver actually), a beautiful die-cut sentiment and voila! :)

Also created a coordinating envelope to go with it.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a sparkly day!

First card of 2015!

Hello, and happy new year! :)

Here is my first card of 2015,  card made for my mum's colleague who is retiring from work.

I finally managed to get my hands on the gorgeous hero arts small solid flower cling stamp! (Been for a really really long time on my to-buy list.)

Out of the sentiments, the word "happy" is from winnie walter's The Big, bold and happy set, the word retirement was after piecing Harold's Abc alphabet set from lawn fawn.

Added a bit of black glitter to the word happy, and a diecut in the corner. :) The ribbon is satin. Also made a matching envelope to go with the card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

A quick card using a stencil

Here's a birthday card I did a while back using a memory box stencil. This pattern is called 'Rhapsody' and I love love love it! :D

At that time I did not have any branded inks or ink applicators so just used a locally available light blue colored ink with a foam square to apply it. My first try at stencilling too, had the stencil secured to the paper using a washi tape! :)

The sentiment, flower etc. are from itsy bitsy and the odd pearls and rhinestones, a local buy.

Have a happy day! :)

Mr. & Mrs.

I just can't seem to get over the mega die-cut phase... :)

Love, love, love glittering them up...

The background is created using friskars 'Just Married' stamp set. The second picture shows the interior. I even coordinated the envelope to go with it.

I have kept the remaining pretty simple, by using red and black cardstock instead of one. Maybe using dual colors adds a little pop to it? :D

That is it for now, thanks for stopping by!

Ink blending tools - what to pick for someone new to distress inks?

Hello! :)

I just started using the distress inks, which are awesome for blending, stencils etc. and thought that writing about the various blending tools available out there would be helpful for others like me for whom these inks are new..

Ranger has its own version of ink blending tools. Alongwith that there are other blending tools available that are made by other brands, like Tsukineko sponge daubers. Lastly, it is the humble makeup sponge wedge.

I started with the ranger blending tool for blending inks but it kinda proved difficult because I would end up applying way too much pressure.
Ditto with the sponge daubers..  also because of the dauber's small size, they covered a lot less area.

The makeup wedges worked best for me, they are all sponge and super light so they help in even distribution of ink without me ending up exerting too much force.. they not only helped blend color easily but were also awesome with stencils! Also at (INR) Rs. 350/- for a pack of 24 wedges, the most pocket friendly too!

I know many crafters are fans of the ranger and other branded ink blending tools, but seriously guys, give the makeup wedge a try... :) you will not be disappointed!

Have a happy day!

Distress Inks! (Mini kit 1)

Like I said, I had purchased distress inks for the first time this diwali, I decided to put them to use.

It was tricky at first and after a failed attempt, I managed to put together a decent card the second time around. :)

Also used some die-cuts by pink paislee, tiny pearls, brads, a paper clip and a big die-cut word... "love" (yeah, its pretty obvious and kinda out there, but I tried to make it subtle!)

Have a happy day and thanks for stopping by!
