ATC - June 2015

Here's my ATC for June swap.

The theme was Vintage and I decided to use flowers.

Now, if you have seen my work you will notice that I stay away from 3D flowers...

Why? Simply because the thought of squished flowers in transit is enough to make me squirm, so I never dared to purchase them.

Guess destiny had other plans... I won a big bunch of flowers in a contest earlier this month and when I started working on this, after placing some of the flowers they looked like they were made for this project so I used them. (Keeping a whole lot of bubble wrap to pack the ATC close by of course!)

Here's how I made this :
1. On kraft cardstock used Tim Holtz Gothic stencil with modeling paste. (I used pink ink to add color to modeling paste prior to using it)

2. After the paste dried, I used white ink with Tim Holtz script stamp and stamped the entire ATC.

3. Added pieces of pattern paper, pearls (pale pink and white) and washi tape from my stash.

4. Stamped the sentiment. (From a Wplus9 set)

5. Added flowers and a bright green mulberry leaf.

^__^ Happy to see the way it turned out, because it is also the first time that I used modeling paste.

Thank you for stopping by and have a beautiful sparkly day!

Little Fairy

Where is this itty-bitty fairy off to you ask? ^__^

Off to her home with the help of a little flower...

This is exactly what came to my mind when I saw the beautiful picture put up for inspiration at CSCC.

Here's how I made this...
1. Stamped and watercolored the little fairy and matted it onto yellow cardstock.
2. Placed pink and blue punched out hearts around the fairy (my interpretation of that lovely pastel rain picture in the collage).
3. Added green colored die-cuts to two sides. (Altered from a bigger die-cut, see pic #3)
4. The word "Hello" is a die-cut from K & Co.
5. The sentiments on top right are from word phrase pack by itsy bitsy.

P.S. I also added some white sequins among the hearts and glittered up the whole thing. (Glitter and sequins are a local buy.)

Monochromatic Card

Inspiration to an artist comes in many forms, and today it has lead me to the creation of something new...

Here is a monochromatic card that I made to congratulate a beautiful bride... :)

The entire process that led to the making of this is one fun journey, so sit back, relax and welcome to my crazy world.

When I gathered my supplies and sat down to make the card, I didn't know what I was going to make or how it would turn out...

I spotted the black and white challenge at Kraftzone blog and thought why not use just these two colors to make a card... it would be a refreshing break from the usual colorful variety that I make. I saw a few videos to observe layering and card making with black and white and the one that inspired me for this design is this one : Card Video

I saw a beautiful mannequin on the front of the card in the video, and when I saw it, the thought of using my So Suzy stamp "Wedding Dress" immediately came to mind.

I took my So Suzy stamp and stamped it in the center of the black cardstock as I wanted it to be the focal image of the card.

After that, I used a Tim Holtz stamp and stencil (script and gothic stencil) and created the background.
The word 'congratulations' is from a stamp set that I got free with an issue of Do Crafts magazine.

I underlined the sentiment using a white Sakura pen.

I matted it onto a white cardstock on which I had stamped in black ink the Tim Holtz script stamp to a few sides for texture.

Yet, something was missing... ofcourse, it was a congratulations card, it needed some bling!
I added white pearls to the dress and gave the mannequin a pretty pearl necklace with a rhinestone center.

I was still not happy... so I set it aside for sometime and was surfing the net when I spotted this "Butterfly Bride" stamp by So Suzy.

How strange... I used one stamp and got inspired by another one to add more detail to it... both by the same brand, but after I used some butterflies to add to the dress from my Martha Punch, I loved the result! (Pic #3 is Butterfly Bride by So Suzy Stamps)

The card seemed complete... well almost... I wanted to add something to the two corners of the black cardstock but didn't know what to add.... was confused and tried atleast 10 different types of embellishments when I saw a die-cut just lying in my box which I use to store them. (Thank God for transparent storage boxes!) (Picture #4)

I took it out and looked at the design, it was very pretty  but too big for my project.... so I cut it in the size required for my project and stuck the trimmed pieces to the two sides.

Coated the die-cuts and butterflies in white shimmer and thus, my card was complete! ^__^

I had a lot of fun making this, afterall, if you don't experiment, you will never come up with something new! Never thought that just two colors, black and white would lead to this!

I'd love to hear what you think. Have a beautiful, sparkly day!

A bittersweet goodbye...

Hello!! ^__^

Here's a card that I made for a friend who is moving to a different country...
Bittersweet because while I am happy for her, I am also upset over the fact that I will not be able to see her as often as I do...

I made this using two Crafter's Workshop stencils, a pink chevron washi tape, distress mini ink kit #1, some locally bought sequins and a couple of brads from kaisercraft.

Oh, and the sentiment, is from a Wplus9 set. :)
p.s. The rectangle that forms the central portion of the card is mounted on foam. (Locally purchased and reinforced with red tacky tape.)

That is it! Till next time dear friends, have a beautiful day!

Thankful - for everything that you do!

The theme of the month at one of my favorite brand of stamps, So Suzy Stamps, was thank you and that is what inspired me to make this card. :)

Unlike my cards where I stamp the sentiment once, here I have stamped it thrice (from a simon says stamp set).

Also, the gorgeous blooms that you see in the card is one of my favorite stamps, called "Tulip Stem" and sold by So Suzy Stamps. I have inked the bud part in salty ocean and the stem and leaves in mowed lawn distress inks and stamped it thrice onto my cardstock.

So, let's get to the process :
1. On an off-white cardstock created background using a paint brush with diluted salty ocean distress ink.

2. After that I stamped Tulip Stem thrice using salty ocean and mowed lawn.

3. Stamped the sentiment and added a bit of texture using TCW Stencil - Texturized.

4. Rounded the edges using a corner rounder and matted it onto a blue cardstock and then onto master cardstock on which I had already added some texture, using the same stencil.

5. Took a blue chevron washi tape and added a brad to it and attached it to the top of the card. A bit of washi tape was also added to the bottom right corner of the card, which I also rounded using my corner rounder.
Also added a twine, some rhinestones and a little U clip. :)

6. Stamped the sentiment two more times onto the master cardstock and added some glittery white butterflies.

That is it!
The sentiment outside is "Thankful" so on the inside I continued it by writing, "for everything that you do."

I'd love to hear what you think! (Pardon my poor photography, I tried my best but this is just one of those cards where the beauty cannot be captured completely via a photograph)
Also included some cool closeup pics! ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Fabulous, YOU!!

Here is a card that I made for my friend who is about to be married to the love of her life! :)

I had recently bought some sakura modeling paste and looking at that texture in the champagne colored top-half of the dress, I knew I had found the perfect excuse to use and experiment with it. :D

This is how I made it :

1. Spread some modeling paste using a spatula onto a heavy duty white cardstock (250 gsm).

2. While the modeling paste was still wet, I took a fine tooth comb and created that pattern.

3. Once it dried, I took some inka gold (old silver) and applied it generously over the design with a sponge. (I know, the inka gold label says old silver, but in actuality it is a gorgeous champagne color that looks great on both, white and black cardstock!)

4. After that, took a brush and blended picked raspberry and spiced marmalade distress ink with the outer edge of the design. I must add here that inka gold blends easily with water and distress ink, resulting in a beautifully understated look with a slight amount of shimmer.

5. Once that was done, I took my chevron stencil (by Kaisercraft) and sponged it lightly to two sides of the card, again using picked raspberry and spiced marmalade.

6. After it dried, I matted it onto a bright pink cardstock which was finally matted onto a 300 gsm black cardstock.

7. After that, I took two die-cuts in white, which said "Fabulous", sponged one with spiced marmalade distress ink and the other with jet black archival ink and created a shadow effect.
To jazz it up a bit, I covered the orange die-cut in fine glitter dust.

8. Loved the geometric pattern in those bright colors, so I cut up some triangles out of the purple, pink and orange cardstock and arranged them on the other two sides. (The sides where I didn't use the chevron stencil)

9. Finally, added some purple and pink acrylic dots and coated the pink and orange triangles in fine glitter dust.

That is it! ^__^ Had a lot of fun with the modeling paste! (I used to think it's pretty tough to use, but it's super easy!) If I can do it, so can you!

Thanks for stopping by! :)
